Enforcement of Criminal Penalties - Follow-up Audit

general assembly on January 15, 2014

The Court of Audit publishes the results of a follow-up audit on the enforcement of criminal penalties. In its report to the Federal Parliament, the Court holds that the commitments made by the Ministers of Justice and Finance following its 2007 report have not been fulfilled. There is still no improvement or coordination strategy between the Federal Departments of Justice and Finance. The enforcement of the sentence, the recovery of fines and the application of subsidiary penalties are not sufficiently under control. This jeopardizes the effectiveness of sentences as well as the equal treatment of citizens. Concrete action needs to be taken at short notice.
