Cycle tracks in Flanders

Dutch speaking chamber on September 19, 2017

The Court of Audit examined whether the Flemish governement succeeded in implementing the supralocal functional bicycle routes network in Flanders (BFF) in order to improve road safety and promote cycling. The network is apparently being created slowly. Over the past few years, road safety for cyclists has decreased in Flanders and the Region has not been able to reach the targeted number of people using their bycicles as a functional means of transport. The budget allocated to the BFF and the cost of this network are far from transparent.
